چکیده

In the program of work directed towards the develop ment of an X-Band Next Linear Collider accelerator structure, two different test accelerator sections have been completed, and a third is being fabricated. The first is a simple 30-&l constant-impedance section in which no special attention was given to surface 6nisl1, pumping, and alignment. The second is an 86-tell section in which the cells were precision diamondturned by Texas Instruments Inc. The structure has internal water-cooling and vacuum pumping manifolds. Some design details are given for the third section, which is a 206tell structure with cavities dimensioned to give a Gaussian distribution of dipole mode frequencies. It has conventionalmachining surface finishes and external water and pumping manifolds. Component design, fabrication, and assembly braxing are described for the first two experimental sections.

The next Linear Collider Test Accelerator+

During the past several years, there has been tremendous progress on the development of the RF system and accelerating structures for a Next Linear Collider (NLC). Developments include high-power klystrons, RF pulse compression systems and damped/detuned accelerator structures to reduce wakefields. In order to integrate these separate development efforts into an actual X-band accelerator capabl...

Short-range Dipole Wakefields in Accelerating Structures for the NLC

Through fitting to numerical results we obtain a simple model for the transverse short-range wakefield of a linear accelerator structure over a parameter range useful for the NLC. The NLC Positron Source

A baseline design for the NLC positron source based on the existing SLC positron system is described. The proposed NLC source consists of a dedicated S-band electron accelerator, a conventional positron production and capture system utilizing a high-Z target and an adiabatic matching device, and an L-band positron linac. The invariant transverse acceptance of the capture system is 0.06 m⋅rad, e...

Operation and Expected Performance of the NLC

‘The main linacs for the proposed Next Linear Collider (NLC) provide acceleration of up to 500 GeV per beam. The linacs operate in a regime where unavoidable imperfections and even natural ground motion cause significant emittance dilutions. In order to achieve the NLC luminosity goals, small emittance beams must be transported with an emittance growth of less than SLAC-PUB-7354 November 1996 O...

The next Linear Collider Test Accelerator: Status and Results

At SLAC, we are pursuing the design of a Next Linear Collider (NLC) which would begin with a center-of-mass energy of 0.5 TeV, and would be upgradable to 1.0 TeV and beyond [1]. To achieve this high energy, for the past several years we have been working on the development of a high-gradient 11.4-GHz (X-band) linear accelerator for the main linac of the collider. In this paper, we present the s...

Beam Losses in the NLC Extraction Line for High Luminosity Beam Parameters November 2000

In this note we present results of beam tracking in the NLC extraction line for the NLC option with high luminosity beam parameters (Option H). Particle losses for 0.5 TeV and 1 TeV cms energy beams have been computed and examined as a function of beam offset at the interaction point (IP). Updated tracking results for the NLC Option A are presented as well. Beam Losses in the NLC Extraction Lin...
